How much does it cost sponsor a child?
If you choose to sponsor a child the cost will be $40 per month
How long should my sponsorship last?
You may discontinue your sponsorship at any time, but we offer you the opportunity to sponsor a child for a number of years; usually through the school years. We understand that a sponsor’s circumstances sometimes change, so if you need to discontinue your support we will look for another sponsor for your child. If your child is adopted we will let you know so you can consider sponsoring another child.
What specific benefits will my sponsorship provide?
Your sponsorship will provide, food, housing, clothing, school fees, health care and safety, along with the parental and spiritual care of loving house parents.
Can I/we communicate with our child?
We want our children to develop a relationship and friendship with their sponsors and their families, so we encourage a free exchange of communication between the sponsored child and the sponsor and their family. Your child will write you once in a while and give you updates. Once you have decided to sponsor, you will receive all the information you need to be in regular communication with your sponsored child by email or regular mail. We encourage sponsors to send family photos and words of encouragement regularly.
Will I be the only person sponsoring the child I am helping?
No! Worldcomp is seeking at least two sponsors for every child. The reason for this is that we must cover all the needs of the children we care for. Other organizations provide “supplemental support” for children who have families, but our children are completely dependent on us for all of their needs. The cost of supporting a child is around $80 per month. We want to be completely up front about this. We have set the cost of sponsorship at $40 per child in order to make it possible for people in any financial situation to support and love a child.
Is my sponsorship tax-deductible?
Yes!
Worldcomp is a 501C3 Tax exempt Organization. Your contributions to the support of a needy child are 100% tax deductible. At the end of each year a letter will be sent to you with your giving total for tax purposes. If you would like an accounting during the year we will be happy to provide that too!
A word about Special Gifts
Sponsors love to send special gifts to the children they sponsor either through the mail or through someone traveling to Kenya, but we are asking you not to do this. When one of our kids gets special things from their sponsors and others do not it causes other kids to feel left out.
Here’s what we do! We want our kids to be celebrated on their birthday, on Christmas and at Easter, so we encourage our sponsors to contribute to an offering and then we buy all of the kids something special from their sponsors. Once in a while you’ll be asked to contribute so we can give something special to all of the kids. If something comes up in the life of your child that needs special funds, we will let you know!
Are all of our kids orphans?
Most of our kids are orphans, but not all! Some have living parents who have abandoned them for some reason. Others have living parents who have AIDS or other
illnesses which make it impossible to care for their child. Then there are some who have been taken from abusive situations and placed in our home by the child welfare system. The Home of Grace will not turn away a child who is brought to us for care by the state.
The Best Way to Send your Sponsorship Support
The best way to send you sponsorship support is through some sort of “autopay” system. We have found that who have not set this up, tend to forget sending in their support. You may set up a recurring sponsorship payment on this page.
