KARA KIBERA KIDS SCHOOL
It is always an experience to drive into the Kibera Slums. The sights the sounds and the smells are something one never experiences in our world. The slums are teaming with people walking about without smiles and looking lost in this world. There are also many young men walking around with what I call “Hungry Eyes”, constantly searching for an opportunity to make off with someone’s treasure. Our Kibera Children’s center lies right in the middle of this 5 square miles of poverty, and when we finally get there through the garbage and sewage, it’s like stumbling onto an oasis in the dessert.

We have visited our Kibera School many times, but today, I have to say was the most moving and exhilarating visit we have ever had. The kids displayed a level of joy and enthusiasm for the Lord that was over the top. They also connected with our team in the most heartwarming display of love ever. Following the meeting they literally swarmed us to hug us and to just touch our hands. At dinner all of us had to say, it was one of the best days we’ve ever had in Kenya.

I also have to mention how proud we are of Lillian and Lydia Idagiza and their younger sister Lorraine. In the midst of great hardship and scarcity they have put together one of the best Christian Middle Schools in Kenya. Not a single dollar we invested in this place since 2007 has been wasted.

Tomorrow we spend the day at our WorldCOMP Lenana Christian School and we are looking forward to it. Thanks for spending a few minutes reading this and for connecting with us on our trip to Kenya.
