Below is a report from our Kenya team regarding a massive “anti-jigger campaign” that we have orchestrated and paid for. Hundreds of homes and families have been treated with antiseptic to kill these horrible little pests. Thanks everyone for your financial help to serve so many hurting families.
The whole of this week, our teams of community health workers, community leaders, Doctors and nurses have been cycling all over Vihiga in our much advertised Anti-Jigger campaign.
The teams have gone to households, visiting poor old infected women and men to show some love.
How we do it?
…… greet them, tell them about the Love of God and share our knowledge and understanding of hygiene and sanitation and how these leads to their conditions.
We have also taken time to listen to the infected narrating their experience and suffering. We have prayed with them.
Finally we fumigate their houses, their clothes, beddings and their limbs as you can see in the photos.
Today and tomorrow, we will have a clinic for physical Jigger removal and general physician intervention. We have medical camps on both days.
In a case, an old lady has almost her entire frontal private part eaten up by the evil jigger dudu….. she barely can walk.
It’s frightening.
We have mobilized more than 30 medics, 30 Community Health workers and 50 general workers for a week and they are doing a good job.
Our chief nursing officer Josephine, my Sisters Maggy and Terry and our hands on guy Mesh are coordinating the entire program.
