The attached photo is of a little five-year-old girl who came to the altar during the worship service at the Kimbo All Nations Church. She came up on her own and gently knelt down and prayed for a full 20 minutes. There was nothing pretentious about her prayer. Just watching her pray was a spiritual experience for Valerie and I.
The Kimbo Church, like many Kenyan Churches, fully involves the kids in the service. They joyfully dance throughout the worship time. Many of them are on the worship team and they always have a special time where they sing and recite memory verses. This morning’s memory verse was the entire chapter of Psalm 133, “How good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell in unity, etc”. Personally I love the unrestrained exuberant worship of the Kenyan people. I never get tired of it.
We had a second purpose for visiting the Kimbo Church. Following the service our WorldComp leadership met with community leaders to plan for a medical camp at the church facility. This 3-day medical camp at the end of August could turn out to be the largest medical camp we have ever undertaken. We are planning for 5000 patients in three days. We have done large medical camps in some pretty primitive places, but this church facility will provide us with the ideal logistics for a medical camp.
Please join me in putting out the call for doctors, nurses, dentists, pharmacists, and eye care specialists to join us for this important event. The dates will be August 13 – 27 and the cost will be $2500 (All Inclusive: Airfare, lodging, food and in-country airfare). Many lives are saved in these camps! We also want to invite anyone who enjoys working with kids to join us as well as anyone who feels called to staff our prayer room. Please give this some thought.
Val is being treated for her bacterial infections and we are hoping that she will be 100% within a few days. Please keep her in your prayers.
